A Word From New Members

Brian and I belonged to a bigger Presbyterian church which wasn’t very close to where we lived, so we took
the decision to move church in the summer of 2005. It was a difficult decision to make as we had many
friends in our former church, we were involved in various aspects of the church, plus it is where we got
married, but we really felt God calling us to make the change. Since we live in Mandeville Manor, we
decided to try Craigavon Presbyterian. At this stage we were unaware that the Manse was just around the
corner from us,as were other members of the congregation. Our first impressions of the church were that it
was smaller than our previous church, but that it was welcoming and there was a real sense of Godliness
about the place. Soon after we had a visit from the Reverend Allely and were starting to make friends in
the church

We transferred our memberships to Craigavon, and it was not long until we started getting involved in
church life. Both of us became Sunday School teachers and got involved in the rota for the Sunday School
minibus run. Nikki also attends a Wednesday night house group, and both of us regularly take part in the
Young Adults nights. We love the Young Adults nights in particular as there’s a really nice group of
people around our age who we can have good craic with. Since the arrival of baby Katie in January we now
also find ourselves paying attention to the crèche facilities in the church as well as the Mums and Tots
group and other youth organisations. We are confident that our children will be nourished spiritually here.
We feel at home now in Craigavon Presbyterian and have established many friendships already. We both
believe that it is the right place for us and our future family to serve and grow closer to God and God’s
people.
